Time, A Relentless Thief

How do you get acquainted with time? In the morning some people wake up when their alarm clock rings. Others are awoken when they hear a cock crowing, or church bells ringing. People who live close to the mosques get up when they hear the call to prayer. At school, a school bell rings when it is time for the next lesson, or for break.

Some people know what time is it by using clues from nature. They can discern from the sun, or from the amount of light. You can even detect from the birdsong that it is time to wake up, or time to prepare for the night when you hear birds like owls.

Time, poetically depicted as a relentless thief, scientifically explained as the fourth dimension, and practically seen as a valuable and limited resource, is one of the biggest riddles of the universe. The truth is, our decisions and actions define whether it is our enemy or ally. Taking control of our time means living our own life – not someone else’s – and getting the most out of it.

In the end, we assassinate time. We save time. We plunder and get plundered by time, we lose time, and we have all the time in the world. But not one of us is powerful enough to stop the march of time or slow it down.

Is it something far beyond our control? In fact, no. While we cannot manipulate the flow of time, we still can get the most out of it.

Becoming a wise time manager sometimes is similar to mastering a sorcery, but the results are worth the effort. Being the master of your time means getting more done, staying energized, and doing more things you enjoy.
