The Virtue of Faith

Faith is rooted in the unknown. Once we possess knowledge, faith becomes unnecessary. Since we didn't witness the creation of the world, we rely on faith to believe that God is the author of creation.

We didn't walk with Jesus or hear his preaching firsthand, but we have faith based on Scripture and the writings of the apostles. We trust their testimony and find hope in Jesus' message.

So, what cultivates faith within us? Interestingly, it begins in infancy. Our parents teach us faith by consistently meeting our needs, demonstrating reliability, and fostering courage.

Conversely, neglectful or absent parenting can lead to trust issues, making it challenging for individuals to develop faith in others or a higher power.

Parents are often the first "gods" in a child's life. The Lord's Prayer, which begins with "Our Father," illustrates this dynamic. If our parental relationships are fearful or unreliable, it can influence our perception of God.

Nurturing faith is crucial. Sharing our personal experiences of God's presence in our lives strengthens the faith of others. Listening to others' faith stories, in turn, nourishes our own faith.

May we continually testify to the faith and hope that reside in our hearts.
