Loving Our Enemies: A Call to Prayer
Loving our enemies can be a daunting task, especially when their faults are constantly highlighted by well-meaning friends or the media. But who are our true enemies? Often, the term "enemy" refers to someone we fear, and fear stems from a lack of understanding.
While it's true that some individuals face real threats and harm from others, and countries may engage in conflict, Jesus' teachings on loving our enemies take on a different tone. Disagreeing with someone's attitudes or beliefs doesn't justify hatred.
So, how do we deal with our enemies? Jesus' answer is simple: pray for them. To overcome hate, we must replace it with love, and the source of that love is God.
Imagine the impact if the entire Christian world prayed daily for an end to violence and hate for a year. What if we made a collective vow to pray each day during Lent for peace in our homes, neighborhoods, and world?
Will you join me in this prayerful endeavor? Together, we can foster a culture of love and compassion, and bring about transformative change.
