Speak Life, Not Loss

In the Old Testament, there was an Israelite woman about to give birth. She had just received devastating news — the Ark of the Covenant, which represented the very presence of God, had been stolen by the Philistines.

Grieved and overwhelmed, she named her newborn son Ichabod, meaning “the glory has departed.” She allowed her pain in the present to define her vision of the future.

Think about that for a moment. She could have named him something hopeful — like “the glory will return” — but instead, she was so focused on the loss and sorrow of the moment that she marked her child's entire life with a name rooted in despair.

Friend, don't make the same mistake. Don’t name your future based on your present circumstances.

You may have experienced setbacks, disappointments, or losses, but that doesn’t mean God is finished with your story. Refuse to let an “Ichabod” mindset settle over your life.

You are not stuck. You are not forgotten. You are not defeated.

Instead, speak life over your future. Call it what God calls it:

Blessed. Victorious. Prosperous. Healthy. Whole. Strong. Talented. Anointed. Loved.

Your current challenge is not the end — it’s a setup for something greater.

Declare God's promises, and watch as He leads you into the future He has prepared for you — one filled with hope, purpose, and glory that never departs.
