The Companion Who Never Leaves
Loneliness is no respecter of persons. It can creep into a palace just as easily as it settles in a hut. For some, loneliness drives them to drink; for others, it pushes them to the edge of sanity. Tragically, many even end their lives under the weight of its despair.
But countless people through the ages have discovered that Christ is the true answer to loneliness. The Hebrew children were not alone in the fiery furnace—there was One with them, like the Son of God. Moses was not alone in the wilderness when God appeared and called him to a greater purpose. Elijah was not alone in the cave when God drew near and spoke in a gentle whisper. Paul and Silas were not alone in the Philippian jail when God turned their midnight into a song.
That same God is with you today. Whatever season you find yourself in—whether in the fire, the wilderness, the cave, or the prison of life’s trials—you are not alone. Christ is the Companion who never leaves, the Friend who stays closer than a brother.
Take heart: He is with you right now, and He always will be.
