A Lion Never Eats Grass
A lion may experience hunger, but it will never eat grass. Not because grass is unavailable, but because it is not in the lion’s nature. This simple truth carries a powerful lesson about identity, standards, and self-respect.
In life, hunger comes in many forms. It may be loneliness, the desire for acceptance, fear of being left out, or pressure to belong. In those moments, people are often tempted to compromise their values just to feel connected. But lowering your standards to satisfy temporary hunger often leads to long-term dissatisfaction.
Grass may fill the stomach for a moment, but it can never truly nourish a lion. In the same way, unhealthy friendships, toxic relationships, and misaligned environments may provide short-term comfort, but they cannot support your growth or well-being. What does not align with who you are will eventually drain you.
A lion understands its nature. It does not question its worth because of hunger. Likewise, knowing who you are should guide what you accept. Standards are not pride; they are boundaries that protect your peace, values, and future. Choosing to walk alone for a season is often wiser than forcing connections that compromise your identity.
This does not mean rejecting people or becoming arrogant. It means being discerning. It means understanding that not every opportunity is meant for you, and not every relationship deserves access to your life.
Hunger is temporary. Seasons change. What matters is the choices you make while waiting. When you honor your values even in difficult moments, you position yourself for connections and opportunities that truly nourish you.
A lion never eats grass - and neither should you feed on what diminishes you.
Stay true to who you are.
Your nature matters.
